Jing-I Jang- Harpist, Pianist



Jing-I Jang, a native of Taiwan, received her DMA and MMs (harp, piano) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was awarded Outstanding Distinction as a harp teaching assistant, and her Bachelor of Fine Art in piano performance from National Taiwan Normal University. Jing-I has achieved distinction as national and international realms as a prizewinner in the 19th Nippon International Harp Competition in Soka, Japan and in the 9th International Web Concert Hall Competition in 2007. She has served as principal harp for orchestras in Taiwan and the US. Previously, Jing-I was acting principal harp with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2007-2008 concert season and served as the adjunct harp instructor and piano accompanist at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, USA. Jing-I authored two articles on Elias Parish Alvars' Norma Variations in spring and fall 2010 issues of the World Harp Congress Review. She was a lecture performer in the 11th World Harp Congress in Vancouver, Canada. She also served as an assistant editor to the World Harp Congress Review from 2011-2014. After moving to Wexford, PA in 2012, Jing-I maintains her private studio teaching both piano and harp. Besides, she enjoys performing as a soloist, chamber musician and piano accompanist.
